Jack Eastgate

Artist

My artwork is rooted in Pacific culture, from the Fiji Islands to the California coast. My connection to these places inspires me to explore evolving cultures and the ongoing impacts of colonisation, climate change and migration; and the ways in which awareness and connection to nature can provide remedy and healing.

Muralist

Through public artwork, I create vibrant jungle and forest scenes on manmade structures, speaking to the way that art, life and progress are interwoven. By incorporating abundant plant life into visual landscapes so often impacted by development and industry, I invite viewers to consider the ways in which our choices for work and leisure involve and impact plant life and broader nature.

Live Painter

My process is inspired by other cultural artforms, especially music. I always paint to a soundtrack and live painting is a way I visualize and express the creative influence of musicians, DJs and performing artists. I begin events with a blank canvas and let the vibrations of the music and surrounding community inspire color and composition, a visual representation of the performance. In live painting I also bring in palettes and compositions inspired by nature and themes rooted in collective healing.

Designer

I apply my artistic senses along with my technical training to complete graphic and wayfinding design. I earned my Bachelors of Art in Graphic Design from California State University East Bay and I have over 13 years of design experience, including in-house and freelance projects.
