International Women's Association Gala Live Paint

I was invited to live paint at the International Women’s Association (IWA) Gala to support their efforts in raising funds for new echocardiography equipment and a lift in the children’s ward at the Colonial War Memorial Hospital (CWM) in Suva.

It was a beautiful and successful night! I was especially inspired by the good vibes provided the band, Inside Out and the group is featured in my piece.

I donated my piece and it was auctioned during the evening. However, there was a mixup and it was sold for $5,100 without a counterbid of $5,200 being heard. So I committed to painting a second piece to ensure that both bidders received a piece, and $10,300 would be secured for CWM.

IWA raised a total of $354,000 during the very successful evening, and I’m grateful to have contributed to the good cause.

I finished the first piece at the event, and brought it home to help inspire the second piece. I opted for the same size and inverted the colour palette so that each piece would have similar striking elements while maintaining a unique, one-of-a-kind element. I finished the pieces with a high gloss sealant.
